What we collect
When you paste or upload a resume, that text (and only that text) is sent to our AI provider to generate your roast, tips, and, if you unlock it, a rewritten resume. We also see your IP address briefly, used only to enforce the free-tier limit (up to five free roasts per IP address per rolling 24 hours; the limit is held in server memory, not written to a database), and standard request metadata (timestamps, request size).
What we don't do
We do not store your resume text, your uploaded PDF, or your generated roast in a database. Once your request finishes and the result is shown to you, we don't keep a copy on our servers. One honest caveat: when a generation fails, our server error logs can briefly capture short diagnostic snippets of the AI's output (which may echo fragments of resume content). These logs exist only for debugging, are not used for anything else, and are not retained long-term. We don't require an account, an email address, or a name to use the free roast.
Cookies
If you unlock the full fix, we set a small signed cookie that records how many unlocks you have left and, briefly, that this browser is allowed to fetch the PDF for the resume it just paid for. That cookie holds a number and a cryptographic signature, nothing about you personally, and it can't be read or modified by anyone else.
Third parties involved
Generating your roast and rewrite requires sending your resume text to WaveSpeed (llm.wavespeed.ai), a third-party AI inference provider that runs the model for us. We send them only the resume text needed to generate your result and we don't ask them to store it, but WaveSpeed processes that text on its own infrastructure under its own policies, and we can't make retention promises on their behalf; review their privacy terms if that matters for what you submit. Payment, if you choose to unlock the full fix, is handled entirely by Stripe: we never see or store your card details, Stripe does. Read Stripe's privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
Your choices
Don't paste or upload anything you'd rather not have processed by a third-party AI model. Clearing your cookies resets your unlock state on that browser. Questions or a deletion request for anything you think we might still have? Email support@theresumeroast.com.
